Medical Abortion
Medical management of spontaneous and induced abortion involves the use of a single-dose regimen or a combination regimen of medicines used in sequence, with specific dosages and routes of administration.
The medicines that have been used for decades for medical abortion are mifepristone in combination with misoprostol, or misoprostol alone.
MisoMife-Fem Combo is a combipack containing 1 tablet of Mifepristone 200 mg and 4 tablets of Misoprostol 200 mcg (total-800 mcg).
MISO-FEM is a tested and trusted high-quality brand of Misoprostol 200 mcg, that is used in the management of obstetric, gynecological, and medical conditions.
The medical abortion training materials provide evidence-based recommendations for provision of medical abortion services up to 12 weeks gestation, and to facilitate training sessions.

Surgical Abortion
Surgical management of abortion can be performed with either manual or electric vacuum aspiration (MVA or EVA) or dilation and evacuation (D&E). The method of surgical abortion depends on gestational age.
Manual Vacuum Aspiration (MVA) is a safe, effective and affordable method used for uterine evacuation up to 12 weeks gestation and endometrial biopsy.
MVA is the method of choice for uterine evacuation recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO).
These training materials are designed to train providers on comprehensive abortion care using MVA and to be used in training sessions on first trimester abortion management.

Early Pregnancy Loss
Early pregnancy loss (EPL), spontaneous abortion or miscarriage are all terms referring to the loss of a pregnancy before the fetus is usually viable outside the uterus. The clinical signs are vaginal bleeding, usually with abdominal pain and cramping. If the pregnancy has been expelled, the miscarriage is termed “complete” or “incomplete” depending on whether or not tissues are retained in the uterus.
Options for management of EPL include surgical and medical methods of uterine evacuation.
